This audio is very short and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as Gaiman's Coraline. I had high hopes for Mirrormask, we own the movie, and though it's a bit dark for the younger children, it's still a very creative and visually stunning film. It was beautifully read by the narrator as well as imaginative and full of adventure and riddles but there simply wasn't enough character development for my liking and I didn't understand why Valentine's.

Loved this story. This was a trippy kind of book. I can't wait to see the movie. First of all, i must say that i'm a big fan of fantasy, horror, and sci-fi book's, film's and graphic novel's. This is a Novella based on the movie of the same name. I have a sneaking suspicion the illustrations enhance much of the story, which felt a bit bare bones without them, and that I've missed out on the full experience. It doesn't feature any of the gorgeous illustrations from the graphic novel which is what I was after, so I sent mine back! The prime minister of the City asks for Helena's help. I've never heard of the film before, and I'm extremely curious about it now, so I think I'll give it a go. Helena then has a dream-like (is it real or no?)

Both of us were impressed by the quality of the book, overall. I haven't seen the film yet but now I'm curious to see it. I liked the heroine and her relationship with her mother. He also illustrated Neil Gaiman's picture books The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, The Wolves in the Walls, and Crazy Hair. Recommended read.
