In Europe, a group of American college athletes unknowingly board a train that will become one deadly ride. Everything plays by the rules, all the characters are boring and blend in together, and even at less than 90 minutes it feels too long. Donaldson is no meticulous world-builder, but the setting of the Land possesses a palpable emotional character and presence, even if ecologically it’s a bit of a hash.
